What is Industry 4.0?

Industry 4.0, also called smart industry, is considered the fourth industrial revolution and seeks to transform the company into an intelligent organization to achieve the best business results.

Industry 4.0 digitally merges various disciplines to ensure customer satisfaction and personalization of services. One of the objectives of this revolution is the union between digital technologies that allow the creation of unprecedented markets and the interaction between economic actors.

These are innovative technologies whose application to industry will develop day by day. We are talking about additive manufacturing, collaborative robotics, production planning tools, artificial vision, virtual reality, gamification, process simulation, operational intelligence, IoT, and the so-called KET (Key Enabling Technologies).

The impact of "Industry 4.0" on "Construction 4.0." revolves around nine technologies that have an impact on different sectors of the industry.

  • Robotics

  • Internet of Things (IoT)

  • Big Data.

  • Cloud Computing

  • Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR).

  • Simulation

  • Cybersecurity

  • 3D Printing

  • Vertical and Horizontal Integration

The transformation of Industry 4.0 not only encompasses the production of goods and/or services within a company, but also the entire value chain, since it shapes production processes and product performance, business management, customer-supplier relationships and, more broadly, business models.
